I'm not sure about the specific details (bench M3 enthusiast) and in research, I came across that fact. having not seen them upclose, I dont know the exact nature of it, but I would guess that the struts and a-arms mount up to the chassis at different points than they would in a 325is...

I think one of our M3 owners/experts online could elaborate more on this than I can
