Besides the body kit and interior, a real M3 will have the aerodynamically (sp?) shaped mirrors (a hole through the side)and will sit a lot lower then a 323, 325, 328.

To convert a E36 3## into a look-alike M3 costs a lot. You might as well buy a real M3 if thats your plan.

Both cars are phenomenal in their own respects.

Keep in mind, the M3 is actually designated as having a different chassis... or something to that effect. The suspension of the M3 bolts up in different locations or something like that.

there was a thread on bimmer.org about a 328 with the M-Technik package... basically it got the M3 body kit, not the suspension...

Possibly...............but even the "lowly" 318 uses the same E36 chasis # the mighty M3 uses.

NIce run man! Heck with everyone els think and said. If they're affraid of maniacs like us, they should avoid taking h/w. (J/k. this will definately ticks some ati-speed people). All i have to say is: if it's LATE,CLEAR,GUN it, if you feel safe/comforable GuN IT. The fastest i've did in the S is 137mph, i got sweaty palms that's y i ease off. And 142mph in my rx-7.

I sold my 96' M3 for my MY2001 S2000. The M3 was modified and usually seem 6-8 DE's and 2-3 autocross per year.

I love my stook but I have nothing but respect for the M3. And I don't think you can walk away from the M3 on the twisty (or on the track).

It all depend on the driver IMHO...

I think M3's are limited to lower than 140? Maybe 128 if memory serves.

My best friend has a 98' M3, and much to my dismay...it hangs with my Stook every time I get froggy. But... Give me ANY stock M3 in the twisties and there will be some schooling. The thing to rememeber here is that the M3 is probably the best handling LUXURY car in the world, but at the end of the day, it is no race car. Next.
