I had Dunlop SP-9000's on my '98 Cobra and they rocked.

Wet Traction: A+
Treadware: A+
Handling: B+
Dry Traction: A

Their worst characteristic is that they will feel a little soft compared to the S-02's and aren't as confident in the turns. Keep in mind I have never driven an S2000 with them. The water channels are pretty significant which gives you less rubber on the road.

Instead of spending a grand on SP-9000 tires, buy a beater car for when it rains and snows. That's what I'm going to do and keep my S2000 equipped with grippier tires like the S-02's.

If your S2000 is an everyday car and if you live in an area that receives a significant amount of rain, buy the SP-9000's. They won't grip quite as good as the S-02's, and your ride will be softened up a bit, but they are the absolute best performance tire for the wet weather, which is important if you frequently drive in the rain.

Like 2x6spd, I have SP9000's on my Acura TL and they are awesome. They make wet road driving a dream! BUT...you do lose some dry road performance, so if you can have TWO sets of rims with track and raod tires, then I highly recommend it, or if you are commuting most of the time in your S2000. But definitelty great tires!

I also had a Cobra before I got my S2k. (slightly modded '96.) Was curous how you feel about your S2000 versus your Cobra? I love the way the S2000 handles and feels, but I must admit I sometimes miss the torque of the Cobra. And the ability to spin out or fish tail at will.

i have the stock size for the s03's (225/50?) on the advice of tire rack. but think you can go one step higher at 245/45. i'm fine with the stock size.
