I can understand however your dismay. That little black pull knob is unlike most cars and certainly other Hondas.

FWIW...
When I was test driving my S2K, the first thing I asked is "where is the gas cap release?" The salesman didn't know, he asked three people, we were searching all over the place for it. Finally he asked a technician who knew exactly where it was.
I know where it is and still have problems finding it sometimes. Its not intuitive at all. Of course, it was also funny watching the guy at the tire place trying to figure out how to start the car.
