Drove an AP1 again... reactions from AP2 owner

i completely disagree with the OP
i owned an 01 and now have an 05 and i thought the opposite.
i think the 05 tranny feels better than the 01 did and the 05 is def the superior feeling and performing car
my 05 is faster and more stable than the 01 was.
and once i slapped the j's 70rr on and some other mods, the 800rpm difference in redline, was soon forgotten.
i also have an ap1 clutch slave, j's clutch and flywheel in my 05, which really made it feel nicer

Most peope that have had Ap1's and bought Ap2's wont go back.
There's more than a few ap1 owners who could have bought an ap2 and didn't because some changes weren't necessarily for the better and the changes that were better were not that much better than the ap1.
But I do agree that Honda made changes to the car to be more apealing to the average American driver...so definitely many do like it better.
Personally, I can't tell a difference in shifting smoothness from my ap1, which has had regular tranny oil changes, to an ap2 tranny. But I would like the ap2 gearing to match with the ap1 9k rpm. And from one of those often shown Best Motoring vids...seems Tsuchiya and Ichishima Tatsuru of Spoon agree that the longer ap1 gearing would be best on the ap2 with its lower redline.

Seems like honda got the trannies in the wrong cars
Either way in my opinion an AP2 would be a much better daily driver (more low end torque, softer suspension, 1 more cupholder )
But an AP1 would make a better track car. (Less weight, stiffer suspension)
I love my AP1 but will probably get an 08+ AP2 a couple years down. I love the new wheels and the 08 has the stiffest suspension of the AP2s.

i love them both lol drove them both many times and theres a few things i dont like in the ap1 that my ap2 has..but that is just my opinion
either way both great cars and we should all love them

[ap2 stock > ap1 stock] for the wider/ bigger wheels and tires, awesome gold spark plug cover, better interior
but the damn 9 k rpm is damn cool tho, if i blow this motor, i may be tempted to get the ap1 motor in it >=) ( if possible)
anyone out there, that has done this?

Honestly, I would love to own a mint AP1(00-01) to go along with my 06. Problem is, it's impossible to find a brand new AP1.
