i have a question...how is the dealer gonna know if you dropped at 7.5k?? Where in the warranty does it say..."NO dropping clutch at 6k or higher!" I know...nowhere!! Drop the clutch..it's fun to spin the tires. So you have to replace the tires earlier..so what...if a pair of rear tires is gonna break your bank...you shouldn't have bought such an expensive car. And for people saying most drag cars that go fast don't drop their clutch...yeah they do! So they dump at 3k instead of 7k...which one do you think is making more torque?!!? If honda built the S2k to have a driveline that can withstand a shock of peak torque and HP once in a while..that is their problem not mine. and for calling a car "your baby!!"...it's a car..made of steel, aluminum, plastic and leather..it has no feelings, it doesn't car about you...it is a machine that you use to get from point A to B. Some get there faster then others. If you want the S2k to get their as fast as it can...dump it!!

The S2K was designed to be a finely tuned automobile with excellent handling characterisitics and more than decent power sutible for aggressive driving. But IMO it was not designed to be a dragster. For those "clutch dumpers" buy a Mustang or a Camaro.

Even though I intend to keep my car as new as possible, I have no fears to drop my clutch. .1-.2 sec. counts in a race. I bought this car to race it. Honda has built this car to be a sports car. I'll even go as far as to say that the car begs you for it. Drive it right, and it won't break.

Riddle me this...
Isn't it a it LOT safer to to test the limits of this car from zero to sixty - even with another car next to you then it is to test the performance in a turn.

If you are asking what is the chance you'll damage the car- that all depends on the driver. However, clutch wear is not driver specific and dropping it at high revs is always going to put stress on your drive train, from transmission/clutch to differential. So I'd have to say its better on the car to go around a curve than drop the clutch assuming a skilled driver.

Also there are many many posts of people who pushed the car in a straight line, shifting the balance at the wrong moment and triggered a spin for whatever reason, which can be very lethal at those speeds, especially with others around. At least going into a turn you are anticipating the rotation, and typically are at lower speeds like 45MPH...still not safe, but if you are going to wreck, I'd rather slide off the road and hit a curb or stump at 45mph than start spinning at 70+ mph in traffic.

Prestigious? This is not a "prestigious" car - it's a nice, nifty, fun car. I'll save that adjective for one of my Studebakers that my brother and I show. Or maybe my Mom's Jag XK150.

I bought this car for one reason - to autocross it. Every tenth of a second counts, and launching at 6k rpm (not 7500) spins the tires just enough, without subjecting the driveline to excessive loads. Feather the clutch from any rpm above 3500, and you'll be smelling the aroma of burnt clutch for a week.
