I like the grip drving gloves give on the steering wheel and shifter - especially with winter top down driving when my hands are a little cold. They don't add much warmth though. I'd buy them in a store where you can try them on. I bought my on-liine and they're a little looser than I'd like. Then the big question - black or tan?

The lambskin gloves are the what I use.[black] deerskins come in tan but are too stiff for me. check out wheelskins.com

I picture leather driving gloves cut off at the knuckles, gold rimmed Ray Bans aviator sunglasses, gold chains around the neck, dress shirt with the top three buttons undone , and for the old farts who remember this the topper a Members only jacket from the eighties.

Is it bad that I actually owned one? I'm only 24 which means I was like 7, so I don't think I should be liable.

Maybe its simply because I've never used them, but I can't see them making much difference. A buddy of mine laughed the other day when I opened the secret compartment and my lifting gloves were in there, he thought they were driving gloves.

Maybe its just a difference of generations opinions.

driving gloves give me a better grip on the wheel, as my hands sweat in the summer time.

If you hold the wheel correctly( light grip ) you shouldn't have a sweating problem.
Turn the AC and aim it towards your hands if you really need it . A death grip on the wheel causes sweat . Even karting here in SoCal during summer my karting gloves are rarely moist.

Seriously, check out Cabellas. I use a pair of shooting gloves designed for shotgunners. Around $25 I think. They are thin, look good, and have good grip. I wear them anytime I take the car out. No sweating, better grip, and it keeps the wheel looking new. Absolute essential for autocross. Years ago you could get all kinds of driving gloves in exotic leathers, licensed by the top drivers. I had a pair of Jim Clark gloves in kangaroo leather with spandex panels. These were my favorite, and I was looking at them, cruising top down in the sunshine by the beach, when they announced on the radio that Jimmy had died in a crash. I pulled over and threw up. Never put them on again.Young men take the death of their heroes hard. The funny thing is, I remember this event more clearly than where I was when JFK got shot.
