Many tests have been done on after market brake systems. You can get huge improvements in fade resistance and other factors but you will almost never get a shorter stopping distance. In fact in most cases the stopping distances will be longer because of many factors. The biggest being upsetting the front/rear braking forces and the effect it has on modern anti skid systems.
