I took off briskly in first yesterday and the car didn't move. The engine reved all to hell, I pressed in clutch and restarted more slowly. This time the clutch did engage and I proceded home only to be greeted with the smell of burning clutch. Is my clutch heading south on me or what?

The smell goes away after a couple days...
I did that a while back when I revved too high trying to start on a steep uphill. Haven't had any problems with the clutch since.
