In my opinion: yes.
In Honda's opinion :YES!
GL-5 is a "quality" spec.
SAE 90 is a viscosity spec.
I'll bet you 1$ the straight 90 weight IS GL-5.
(It may even be GL-6, but GL-6 never made it to be an official spec)
No worries.
Knowledge is power.
But.. all you needed to know about diff oil is also in your owners manual.

Well, the manual is clear enough for me.
Im my manual the GL-6 spec is mentioned too.
I've posted this before with my comment the GL-6 spec was intended for high offset hypoid gears, exactly what the S2000 has.
High offset means the pinion sits well below the center of the ring gear.
Open op your diff to confirm
GL-6 never became official as the GL-5 spec was updated (and the limits were set higher as far as I understand)
Explain yourself
LE-607 is pretty tough stuff.
The new LE-1605 is probably as good or better.
Same goes for engine oil.
Who (in 2007!) uses 10W-30 dino poo oil?
(okay, in a new engine, maybe, but the OEM factory fill will do the trick too so no need to change early IMO)
Yes.
SAE 110.
LE-1605 is just that.
(So is/was LE-607 by today's standards: SAE J306 spec)
Amsoil 75W-110 has promising specs.
Castrol makes a 75W-110 gear oil IIRC.
I would never ever use any 75W-90 oil in my diff.
But that's just me.
I can get my hands on a straight 90. should i get it?
In Honda's opinion :YES!
or exchange what i got for a GL5?
Final question: GL5 or Straight 90?

I also think that we need to clear up what the recommended gear oil for the S2000 in the differential should be now. It would be nice if Road Rage could return and give us some advice in that area too.

As many know, SAE 90 GL5 hypoid type gear oil ain't what it used to be.

Yet Honda has not updated the owners manual to reflect this change.

So, if you want to shop for a recommended gear oil on today's market and viscosity standards, do you ask for SAE 90 or SAE 110 gear oil? I think I'll ask for SAE 110.
