I think it doesn't look bad and for trying something new, but I agree with xviper that you should remove that wall to get the most out of it. Maybe get an extra airbox and try it out.

ARC is widely known as not being a "performance" intake. It's strictly a bling piece.

you're right it beats the ARC, then again so does an intake made of PVC and a sock for a filter. ;

An intake doesn't even cost close to "thousands".
