i did not park it at the airport but took it to LA instead. not sure whether the streets of LA are any better choice than any airport lot ...

odo reads 525 now. it has already seen rain (from above), rain (from below), rain (from the left), more rain (from the right) and snow (I5, north of santa clarita, this morning).

....

Maybe I just have bad karma.
My first convertible was in 1974 and I am a top down guy, maybe I have good karma or maybe I am so used to leaving the top down from the days when it was "safe" to do so but in 30+ years of leaving the top down while parked, I have had one Chocolate Milkshake poured down the defrost vents and a few pieces of trash in the seats. That is it, the milk shake was while parked in the high school parking lot my senior year (75) so I never gave that one much thought and the pieces of trash were so rare and infrequent it does not register with me.

Maybe it matters where you live ? but I see convertibles here in Santa Barbara often with the top down.

If I left my S top down in an airport for 4 days, I would EXPECT to find at least one of these (if not multiple):

- glove box lock popped
- trunk rifled
- seats maybe gone
- unknown liquid splashed on seat (milkshake, motor oil, shellac)
- lots of trash (gum, soda cans, etc)
- spit
- shift knob gone
- someone releases e-brake, knocks it into neutral and rolls it out in traffic lane (or lets it roll down the ramp on its own)
- super glue, chewing gum, or other substance in ignition key-way
- missing 'Start' button
- dog shat smeared on steering wheel or shift knob (from a clever prankstah)
- perhaps human urine or excrement in the seats from a not so clever prankstah, but from someone in a drunken 'har-har', make my friends laugh moment

That's just my list of concerns in 3 minutes of thought.
haha your so evil

i like the one where you roll the car around lol

On the ravelco website, it claims to turn your wheels all the way to the curb so that a tow truck can't two your car properly. Couldn't the driver just put your car in neutral and jack the front end up and tow the rear?

I'm not sure how effective that is. If they really want to tow your car, they will. I saw a mercedes in SF parked in front of a hydrant and to get the car out of its tight spot (wedged between 2 cars front and back), they just attached a cable to the front and yanked the front end out into the street.

Gotta love the aiport: They've got the right to strip search you, but have no security for the parking lots.
I've been leaving my DD at O'hare on the M-Th schedule now for about 7 years and never had a problem. Granted it's my DD (05 Titan, 92 Dakota) and not my S. I used to leave my (then new) Gen 5 Prelude in remote parking and have found that Chicago patrols that lot with mounted police. Daily parking is guarded by cameras and foot patrols with Dobermans (bomb sniffing?) but while I'm comfortable leaving my Titan there, I'd probably never leave my S if for no other reason than to keep my paintless dent repair bill down.

When I used to own the Si, this is what I did.....

1) Arm remote passive alarm with shock
2) Autolok 2000 - http://www.autolok.co.uk/
3) Autolock on all 3 pedals - http://www.autolock.com/
4) Club to immobilize shifter in first to the raised ebrake (does not apply in our case)
5) Nails leaned on all tires in both directions.
6) 2 sets of wheel locks
7) Panels lined with razor blades
8) Carried metal chains in the trunk to wrap around concrete posts in real bad places.

It's much easier owning the S2000 but we still have to worry about antenna and seat theft.

I think when you're on your way into the hood to buy your crack, you should avoid using the S...

Some of the lengths people have gone to as seen in this thread are unreal. Use a different car, get s omeone else to drive, or get Supershuttle or a taxi.
