Dont get a dent near the wheel arches of the rear quarter panels.
Just and FYI, the techniques for removing dents without seeing a body shop won't work near the wheel arches of the rear quarter panels. You have to get it fixed at a body shop. Estimates are ranging from $1200-$1400.
I guess I really didn't want a new computer that badly anyway.

Do you have pictures? Which body shop?
I've heard bodywork on our cars is a trying experience. I've also heard some second hand stories involving a front bumper for one of our locals. Not that I've damaged my car (knock on wood), but this stuff often happens outside your control. To know what is up before hand would be very helpful.

Parking lot door ding, center of the rear wheel arch about 1" long. I'll see if I can't get a picture for you. The part that really sucks is having to drive the Cruiser for a few days.

I had a door ding on the rear quarter panel right next to the door. Really small, but called for a reblend of the paint area. I brought my car to a body shop that speacializes with exotics (Porshes, Ferraris, Quavale, and Panoz) and it costed $176 worth of materials and $700 and something worth of labor. This comes to a total of 9 bills for a little door ding. Is it worth it? Hell yeah, especially when the other person's insurance pays for it. Latez!

I had someone run into my parked S and scrape up the left rear wheel and put quite a ding right in front of the wheel. Cost was like $800-900 (and I got the other party to pay for a $480 Honda Wheel, because the finish on the scraped wheel wasn't done well.)

SeattleSilver. Sounds like you got bad advice. I had a ding in the rear quarter, above the wheel arch, and got it fixed by Dingmasters - no problem. The guy couldn't do his usual fix by going in from under the wheel arch because the S2K chassis construction happens to be rather unique ini that area. Instead, he drilled a small hole from inside the door jam and worked his magic from there. When he'd finished, he just applied a small rubber seal to the hole he drilled. Ding gone. Cost - $75.
BTW, in previous posts, others have said they have had these ding fixers repair dents in different areas of the rear panels. I guess the ones in Seattle aren't quite as savvy.

When I'd had my S for 6 weeks a fool in a Honda Odyssey change lanes on me and hit my right rear wheel arch with the front of his car.
It's a long story (and if you do a search for AAMI you can read the whole thing) but after the first repair attempt the ridge above the arch was still flattened out. I took my car back 6 times in all for this and some vandalism. One time it came back and it still wasn't repaired and there was a verticle ding in the very arch they were supposed to be fixing.
Anyways, after totally blowing my stack at AAMI they let me take the car to my repairer and gave me carte blanc to do whatever was required to get it fixed.
The end result: a complete respray. About $5000 worth of work.
I'm now a very happy S owner again.

Had three good sized dings (one vertical nearly two inches long) just above the wheel arch along the rear panel and the dent guy went through the trunk area and fixed them all for about $120. I guess it's much more difficult when it's on the wheel arch, though.
