Doesn't Honda owe Rick Hesel big?

Remember a year ago when Rick was trying to get AHM's permission to use the "S2000" logo. They *****-footed around a while and then said "no." Okaaaaaaaaaaaay
Look at the blue leather console cover on page 21 of the 2002 AHM S2000 brochure. It looks like an exact replica of an official Rick's Signature Accessories console cover.
Is that stealing someone's intellectual property?
What do you think?

Laughing out loud at the automatic censor on the board.
Who would have thought what I wrote would have morphed into "*****-footed" .....
Some bot is too up tight.
*****foot

there....I finally fooled that silly bot.
LOLOLOL
I NEVER before looked at the rude side of "*****-footing".

Yes. The decent thing to do would have been to at least offer Rick the opportunity to be the source for this part.
And Oh, is that why I have to look at those silly bastardized words all the time?

Not only do they OWE him for coming up with products that better their existing line, and then giving them a good idea to vinyl (not leather) cover the console...yes.
Even more so, his customer service abilities should be put into a manual and sold at a wonderful profit to Honda.
They need it.

I voted yes. Then I thought......
The S2000 community of owners and enthusiasts also have a large debt to Rick.
IMHO...
He's already done more for us than he ever will or can do for Honda.
The terms selfless and tireless come to mind (along with hopeless, hapless and helpless )
Thanks Rick
I look forward to seeing you at 'Fall Colors' in a couple of weeks

That looks like Rick's to me. But I am sure they will have documented their case perfectly to aviod any problems.
Barry, I guess I am nieve because I would have never imagined ***** footing around would get sensored.

Thanks, for the thought guys. But I should remind you that the cover was not an original idea. A cruder version (it left ugly clips exposed, believe it or not) was being made out of vinyl in Japan, and selling for $150. We improved on it and made our version out of premium leather.
Honda, in a sense, is turning the clock back. Their cover is vinyl, and bought separately, it will cost at least $300. And judging from the photo, it looks like they left the clips exposed too (yee Gods, what bad taste!). It probably doesn't cost them more than $25 to make, given the volume they can order.
We will have color options ofr 2002 and a level of quality that Honda simply won't match, so we'll still be making console covers and people will be replacing the cheesy vinyl Honda verions with ours, I'm sure.

Still, Rick, I think it is ironic that Honda didn't think your accessories were "good enough" to bear their "S2000" logo.
It makes me more interested in "upgrading" the front emblem from the AHM one to the "Rick's Signature Accessories" one.
