Does your OEM rear bumper have an "exhaust cutout protector"?
Bought a used 2006 several years ago. Finally installed an aftermarket exhaust last week (Tanabe Medalion Touring - I love it!). While doing so, I noticed that there is a small piece of black plastic that is firmly attached to the inner section (i.e., toward the centerline of the car) of the RH exhaust bumper cutout. This part is apparently used to protect that section of the bumper cutout from heat, etc. Strange thing is that only the inner section of the RH exhaust bumper cutout has that plastic piece; the outer section (i.e., toward the RH side of the car) doesn't have a similar piece attached. Another strange thing is that the LH exhaust bumper cutout does not have ANY plastic piece at all. My friend says the bumper was probably re-finished at one point by the previous owner.

Wish i knew but i remember freaking out when i first saw it as well. Thought it may have fell off or something lol later confirmed with my brother in law and another friend who both only had 1 on the inner right side.

mine has it on the passenger side too, it likely gets more flow between the two mufflers ?
