The time to be paranoid was before you bid on it. You've entered into a contract and if you back out now it will be a huge problem. There's probably nothing wrong with the car at all, and you'll probably be thrilled with it, but you should have understood what you were doing before you bid.
And no one EVER backs out of an ebay "contract". I agree, he should be prepared to buy it IF it checks out. As far as I'm concerned, that contract is void if ANYTHING was misrepresented in the auction description or the correspondence with the seller.

He's right, there are one or two minor issues that he needs to check out when he sees the car.

That ebay isnt a contact. It's BS. I've seen many sellers back out of not selling....and these are power sellers. Ebay is geared in helping their powersellers, they make them lots of money versus helping the buyer. Bidding does not make a contract....nothing is signed. It's just a farce. What's the seller going to do? Hire a attorney and litigate thru civil court and lose a couple hundred just doing that or relist it? Durh.

Anyway to get a real read, just pay a mechanic to do a THOROUGH job of looking at everything. My buyer put my up on a lift and before he even looked at the car he took out his little sensor and did a read of the whole car to see for repaints to see if the car has been in accidents before or not. Carfax only lists things reported to DMV. If there is no police report or the mechanic doesnt rreport it, most small shops wont, then you are not going to know anything.

look at the closeup of the steering wheel, looks like the airbag has been re-packed.

My point is that you do your due diligence on the car BEFORE you bid on it, not after. Some bidders would be willing to just buy the car based on what they see. It's unethical to bid (enter into a contract) and then back out.

It may not be worth taking it to court if a buyer backs out - that's true.

Everyone has to live with the ethical decisions they make.

Ok well here is the update. Ya, the car has been in an accident.. i could tell!!!
The hood is an aftermarket one... that is didnt have the VIN on it.
Also driver mirror is aftermarket (doesnt say objects closer ....)

S2000 emblem was there...

anyways i got it for a little less than the ebay page... overall good price for the car... Drives like a champ! im happy!
as long as you are happy thats all that matters. Congrats on your purchase! Enjoy the car. I don't think that drivers side mirrors are convex in the US are they? Only the passenger side one. Therefore it wouldn't have the objects closer warning stamped on it.
