it should, yes. on my old 03, it only worked when it wanted to, had to sometimes tap it to work.

My 2001 does not light up, atleast I haven't noticed it.

I believe mine lights up, I wlll have to double check though lol.

It's supposed to. Mine doesn't..heh.

The start button is supposed to light up also (and again, mine doesn't).

I'll be replacing those light bulbs soon enough...
