Looks like the pads wore to the metal. hard to say in the pic.

Is it just me, or does the paint tone on the front bumper not match the hood and fenders in the straight on pic? It just looks a bit off. It's really hard to tell from the pics though. I'd take a long hard look for any indication of front end damage.

Easy fix -- new pads and rotors.

I don't like cutting rotors. You're basically making the rotors thinner and therefore easier to warp or crack under heavy use. And even that is best case scenario, assuming that the rotors' imperfections weren't too deep to begin with and/or whatever minimum wage grease monkey cutting the same rotors that your life depends on is not lathe-happy and doesn't shave off more than recommended.

Just don't cheap out. Pay the $120 or so and get new rotors with warranty and the correct thickness, eliminate human error and incompetence, and have a much safer S2K.

Have you asked him if the car has been damaged? Carfax may show if it has. He may have had the front bumper painted for stone chips. No big deal. The rotors look similar to mine and my car only has 6K on the clock. How long do S2K rotors/pads usually last?
