Our s2k has PLENTY of torque. I mean, what other 2.0 litre NA motor makes 150-160 lbs of torque? The TC? Yeah, it also has only 160 hp too. That car isn't accused of having little torque, and it's a 2.4 litre.
yeah, but the tC's power is delivered in a much more usable fashion.

in 5th gear you can don't have to downshift to pass cars on the freeway because you accelerate from 60+ (maybe even at lower speeds) with ease.

The only reason i may not get an 's' is due to the high revving nature of the engine. I have a feeling it will get annoying and as i drive like a lunatic anyway, i think i am going to want to be in vtec the whole time which = tickets.

It is either the stang cobra (i had a gt already and they are a good old laugh), a boxster or the s2k. I am sure i will love the s2k - it is rare when you compare it to most cars, especially in LA, looks good and handles very well. I am also factoring in the cost of servicing. That will most likely stop me getting the boxster. The 350 z is a car i may test out, but i want a cabriolet.

Ugh.
you definitely don't fit the bill of someone that would want the S.....people who want to S say I LOVE THE high revving nature of the engine...heck I want the AP1 engine and the 9K redline in my MY04.......screw more usuable powerband

i'd consider a used C5 convertible (or new C6 if you can swing that).....should have plenty of low end power for you with good handles and drop top fun

I grew up on big US V-8 power. I always enjoyed that kinda motorboat motor thing. Had a C5 coupe that was a great car. Enjoyed the hell out of it. Loved that instant neck snapping torque. A little tiring to drive in 5 mph LA freeway hell. Not much chance to use all that power except on the track which is fine if you don't mind getting up at 4 AM to make it to a 6 AM track opening and dumping a couple hundred for the day.
On the other hand, running the S2000 up to even 4K in town gives me a grin. Feeling that micro-shifter click-click from 2nd to 3rd is a nearly sensual experience. But you really gotta love shifting-- all kinds of shifting up, down, heel-toe, and a lot of it. If you just want to drop it gear and kinda cruise, check out a Mustang or a 350Z, or higher up the food chain, a Z4 auto or a MB. But for maximum day to day driving experience, nothing I've ever owned beats this car. And living in LA where it seems like every 3rd wannabe stud lawhound tools around in a Boxster it's nice to have something a little bit different and distinctive. But you really really really gotta like shifting.
