Gotta go with the initial advice. Sure we all know that the oil drain valve is not a problematic item, but why push it. If you develop a drivetrain related issue, just take the dang thing off and install the factory plug. Who wants to argue the point with some boneheaded service dept if it can be prevented. We already know that dealerships in general frown on warranty claims and will look for any reason available to deter one.
exactly, because the general public is borderline stupid. Don't risk messing with stupidity.

I've had a fumoto on the last 4 cars I've owned, 2 currently (09 Accord V6 Coupe and the 05 S). Never one issue with them. Unless the failure is caused by oil starvation then they cannot legally deny any warranty claim.

I've had Fumoto Valves on all my cars for around 4-5 years now and never have had any leakage.

The dealer MUST prove that the damage was caused directly by an aftermarket modification to void your warranty. Of course, the actions needed to get it reversed legally is probably a lot of work. Edit: The threat of legal action, will probably make them change their mind very quickly though.

However, if they do prove that oil starvation was directly because of the Fumoto Valve, you can take the claim to Fumoto USA. They indemnify all consequential damage due to failure of their valve.

I really don't see how that was a valve failure. I know he lost his valve, but if the bolt has the right thread pitch how did it unscrew itself? Did he forget the crush washer? Did he get his torque specs mixed up? I'm not saying it's his fault, but I wouldn't completely dismiss the fumoto valve from one instance.

In this instance, what risk is there that doesn't exist with a oem drain bolt? I see no difference.

As far as the valve goes, I have a large assortment of equipment I maintain with assorted drain and fill valves. I've seen zero failures.
