does anyone has engine overheat problems?? NEED HELP!

honda reconmended me 5w-40, but mobil1 doesn't have that, so i use 0w-40 instead. You mean i can drive with that kind of heat without hurting my engine for three hours????

I am surprised Honda recommended 0W-40, since the "official" recommendation from Honda is 10W-30. It is best to stick with 10W-30, unless you are in a "special" environment or situation. I would say that driving at extremely high speeds IS a "special" situation that would warrant a higher viscosity. With regards to the temps, your engine is not going to suffer from high oil temps unless the OIL ITSELF cannot handle the high temps. Hot oil will protect the engine better than cold oil. If the oil temp is too far below 200F, it is not going to lubricate very well.

but if the oil temperature is too high for too long, the oil itself will break down. It wont lubricate the engine no more then they start to wear. Is it true??? and try to keep your rpm around 7000-8000rpm on the freeway for 15 minutes, you will get my point.

Whereas 10W-30 ( which Honda recommends ) Mobil 1 has fewer polymers because the molecular chain can be built in the lab to cover the more narrow viscosity range. Fewer additives, better protection. Also normal oil has a tendency to evaporate faster at high operating temperatures which causes a thickening of oil and reduced protection. And one more thing, the additive package in normal oil will probably not stand up very long with our high RPM engines. I was changing my mineral based oil every 2,000 miles and the filter every 4,000 miles. This advise was given to me by a friend who is a petroleum engineer.
