Wix makes the Honda filters for the motorcycles, so I'm sure they make the car ones as well. In most cases, you can find the Honda filter for the same price or even cheaper then the Wix though. These are top notch filters.

FRAMs are as low as they get. Cardboard and glue seperates the clean and dirty oil. I can only imagine what the filter would look like after a few hundred miles of hot oil passing through. My guess would be that you would have glue residue and cardboard circulating through your engine. The valve they use also allow dirty oil to come in contact with the clean oil and bypassing the filter. No valve is perfect, but most of the others have the exact oppostie problem. Clean oil touches the dirty oil but it goes through the filter again and does not bypass the filter. Several years ago, FRAM filters were not allowed in motorcycle racing. They caused a few crashes and one death from the filter casing coming off the base plate. Spewing oil all over the pavement and having the rear tire run over it. It caused the rider to crash and killed him.

cde's oil filter failed and resulted in needing an engine replacement.

Thank goodness he had a Honda filter and didn't have to go after Mobil or Fram to cover the cost of his engine replacement.

Do a search and find the details.

In theory. This is the hardest crush washer I have ever seen. I use a new one, but if I didn't have it for a change I wouldn't worry about it.

Anyone have an opinion on K&N oil filters? I needed to change my oil fast and didn't have time to order a Honda or wait until the dealer service center opened, so I picked up a K&N at the local auto parts store. They're not cheap, so I hope their not worthless.

Dumb question:
after changing your oil, what do you do with the dirty oil? You can't dump it or put it in the trash, and I don't want to store a bunch of old oil in my garage.
