I'm a Honda dealer and have had to call Honda corporate on numerous occasions. I would say that 10% of the people at Honda of America read S2Ki, Honda-Tech, Temple of VTEC, and many other sites. The other 90% are folks I haven't spoken to yet

I was thinking about this the other day.
"They want a bigger engine? We'll give 'em a bigger engine...with a lower redline!!! That'll teach them".
"They want two cupholders? We'll give 'em two cupholders...that only hold 12 oz. cans".
I'd like my one cupholder back, but I did wish for an extra one.

RE: evo warranty. I think it is more plausible that these owners had in the past posted a pic of their vehicle and didn't cover their licence plate.
Subsequent posts about mods etc by this owner would therefore be able to be traced to the car via the licence plate.
Back on topic:
Car manufacturers are always trying to create a product that will sell. To sell the product needs to appeal to a certain market of buyer. To appeal to the buyer it must meet their needs/requirements.
If I were trying to create/improve a product I think this is an easy way to get some of that information.
