Do you feel the need to speed? Has it become a drug?
When I drove up to West Point for the Pinnacle Brake install this past weekend, a trip made largely on interstate highways, I realized how much this car likes to go fast, and how much I like to make it go fast. It handles so well at 100 mph plus and feels so secure, that I felt as much at home at 100 or 110 as I normally would at 70 or 80 in another car.
I'm beginning to think that I'm getting some very bad habits that will soon land me in some major trouble with the law, but driving this car fast is like a drug. Do others have this addiction?

I find myself wondering why these people are going so slow on the freeway, only to glance down at the speedo and notice it's not them driving slow,it's me flying.Very easy to get into the speed habit.

I wrote a short paper about this topic in school a couple years ago. Some researchers found that monoamine oxidase (found somewhere in your body) acts like a drug and might be linked to the "natural high" people get when they take risks (such as speeding or other dangerous activities).

it is a natural thing.
when I drives naturally which is don't feel rush, don't feel unsafely, don't feel I am driving crazy, feel 100% everthing is in control. but I am actually speeding.

People think I'm arrogant when I tell them that I just can't go slow in the car. Once I get out there (especially on the freeway) I just can't do the speed limit. It's like the car is telling me "Come on man. Put the pedal to the metal" and I have to. It feels so good. It's literally like I'm in a race car. I love it.

i find that when i'm not on a highway that i enjoy keeping the car at high rpms and not to far past the speed limit. this gives me a great sound and excellent acceleration without screwing with the law. on the highways it does become a dangerous drug.

Speed, the Sirens' Song by Paul Dean:
Excerpt: "What gives with speed, anyway? Why do so many of us seek the adrenaline rush that comes with pushing beyond known limits or sensible norms?"
Sir Stirling Moss is mentioned in this excellent essay.
