Do you contact the previous owner of your car?
Recently I celebrated my one year anniversary of owning the car and I felt like I should update the previous owner on the car for fun. So I sent him a text with a picture of the car saying it was in good hands and a pleasure to drive. I told him it was winter stored and cared for in the same manner as before. I also wanted to ask him a couple more questions pertaining to previous maintenance and a couple small modifications made to the car.
He responded soon after saying he was glad to hear back from me and complimented the front lip which I added. He went on to answer my questions and expressed interest in the current state of the car which was nice. I was also told not to hesitate should I have anymore updates/questions. I think it's neat that, even though you don't own the vehicle anymore, you feel like you haven't completely parted ways with it.
So my question is, have you contacted the previous owner of your S?

No not at all, after I purchased the s2000 I kept his number incase anything went wrong. After I felt like I no longer needed him anymore I deleted his number from my contacts.
But people that purchased my vechicles kept my number. I sold a bike about 3 years ago and the buyer texted me two years after asking me something about the title. :? Then with my old Sti, this kid called me (17yo) asking if I remember where I put the lugnut lock... I didn't like that they contacted me.

Hmm interesting. I thought about letting my car's previous owner know of its current happy state but never remembered to do so.
My car's previous owner has a photography blog with a special category for cars...I saw the brief exchange between the two previous owners, I thought it was cool.

Not intentionally, but I have bumped into them twice while driving around.
Just the other night while stopped at a red, heard some one yell out 'Hi' although I didn't recognise them at first. They now ride a Ninja 300, funnily enough I came from a bike to the S2k and they've done the opposite.

I don't. I also don't want to be contacted it's a business transaction. General questions within 90 days are fine but a couple years later no I've already moved on. Do you call up your girlfriends ex boyfriends to say hi and send pics too?

I don't have anything resembling kind words for the previous owner, so no. The only thing I would do is rub in his face how much better maintained the car is under my care. I mean how the hell can you do so much damage to a car in 7,000 miles....

I keep in touch with my kids that I have sold cars to.
From the health care papers I found in the secret compartment, I believe the one other owner of my S is dead. Tough to get a hold of.
The dealer I bought the car from sends me a birthday card every year. They are out of town.

I think that's pretty cool. If I had to sell my S I'd like to know that it was being taken care of and being enjoyed. As long as the pictures I was getting back weren't of it being stanced or wrecked, lol.
I dont think of selling a beloved car like dumping an ex-girlfriend... More like giving your daughter's hand in marriage, lol. You're sad to give them away, wish the best for them, and would hunt down and kill the guy if he hurts her, lol.

I have thought about contacting the previous owner of my AP2 but decided not to. He seemed like a car guy but not the kind that visits message boards or does any modifications. It would just be to compliment him on how he kept the car in immaculate condition and maybe a few pics of the current look.
The buyer of my AP1 joined the forum and I see him and the car regularly at meets. He has called me with questions a few times and I'm happy to answer anything I can. The car is looking better than ever and luckily he hasn't had any major issues with it.
I did have to contact the previous owner that I purchased the AP1 from. I bought it sight unseen (never again) off this forum and had major issues. All he said was "it wasn't that way when I shipped it" which is total BS but there wasn't much I could do about it. Now if someone calls years later complaining about something that went wrong under their ownership and trying to blame you then that is a different situation. I would never do that and would not be happy if someone did it to me.

I contacted the previous owner of the car for the first few months primarily asking about when maintenance was done. Haven't contacted the previous owner since though, although I still have his details - saved him on my phone as the "Previous S2000 Owner" If someone contacted me though, I wouldn't really mind.
