An autozone worker recommend that I should add Valvoline oil treatment whenever I change my oil. Its only 4 bucks but is it worth doing or something that I shouldn't bother with?

without a teardown of the engine after every oil change, it is hard to say whether or not additives do anything for you. my understanding on them is that it breaks down cooked oil back into a fluid , so it can be drained duting the next oil change.
although it has not been really proven to work, has anyone proved it does harm?
im sure there are a lot of things out there that we can do to our cars that have no real effect on out cars, but we do them anyway to make our selves feel better.
comments guys?

i can't imagine that dino oil would stand up to the tremendous stresses of your engine components. If my memory serves correct, I read that "the stresses on the engine at 9000 rpm are twice that at 8000", or something very similar to that. I bet some of you are using synthetic and have no issues with deterioration. I know my oil looks "tar" black when I drain it at my 2000 mile interval. what kinds of products are you using to keep the stresses down......I'm amazed that there is little use of oil fortifiers.
