Default Do all shifters vibrate?

I test drove an 07 s2000 yesterday and they knob vibrates at idle and also while driving...I asked if all of them are like that he said yes....But I'd like to hear other people's experience if that was normal.

Never driven a stick shift that didn't. The way I look at it, if it didn't then the resonance of the engine would fairly quickly tear your tranny apart.

I had the same question when I first drove my S2000. It's normal because the shifter lays right on top of the transmission. You're probably use to front wheel drive shifter where the shifter is not directly on the transmission, but it's connected to by shift cables...

That's true, and more luxurious cars tend to not have that problem.

All shifters move more or less, it's very normal. That's why the manufacturers say never to drive/coast with your hand firmly around the stick. It should be able to move freely...

Yeah my RSX doesn't do it because like Mystique said, it's connected through cables whereas the S2000 is more of a direct linkage. I'd prefer the S2000's.

Mine does it sometimes when idling and any time that the RPMs are really, really low. When in 1st gear if I drive under 4 MPH, for example, it vibrates. The vibration is minimal otherwise.
