Default do all s2000's have LSD?

hey guys, i know this is a stupid question and will probably get flamed on or something, but please try to resist. i was just wondering if all s2000's had lsd? cause i know if you turn one wheel while the car is up in the air, the other wheels should turn the same direction right? cause MY00 doesn't do that...

Tap the brakes with one in the air, report back.

They all have a torque-limited LSD, Torsen style. Look up Torsen LSD in Wiki or elsewhere. It can handle "x" torque differential (I've heard 4-to-1 is common, depends on ramp angles in the LSD) but not infinite (like when your car is in the air). That's why one wheel turns but not the other.

ohhhh kkaaayyyyy. i guess i kinda get it.... but all in all... we have a KIND of LSD? just not as effective? would we benefit from an LSD from quaife or kaaz or something? and whats the difference between a 1.5 way and a 2 way anyways?

the torsen LSD is a great LSD. not the best for drag racing but for drag racing, but for normal racing.

audis have them
camaro SS have em

i do believe the torsen lsd is a bit more pricey as well....

you might be going backwards if you get a different lsd

It is neither 1.5 or 2 way. That is something for clutch type LSDs.

would we benefit from an LSD from quaife or kaaz or something? That depends on what you will be doing with the car. Racing yes. Stop and Go traffic, No

I have a KAAZ (set up as a 1.5) in my car, and love it, but there are downsides that most people simply will not tolerate. The Torsen is the most common type of LSD becaue it offers many advantages. At least one S2000 owner has tried a 1.5 in the car and found it to be far too aggressive. Bottom line - Know how LSD's work and what the total effect of such a change will be before making it. A Torsen is better for most people under most circumstances.

One BIG plus for the Torsen is that they (normally) last the life of the car without being rebuilt. Clutch type LSD's have to be rebuilt frequently due to wear in the clutches. The Torsen is also silent, which matters to most folks.

A 1.5 LSD locks up totally under acceleratoin, and locks up 50% during deceleration. A 2.0 locks up 100% either way, and is primarily useful in drifting or plowing.
