DIY: Cat Removal
I know its not rocket science, but I removed my cat tonight for a dyno in the morning and it was late at night and I could not find the bolt sizes in any thread online so it sucked trying them all i the dark.
For the record once and for all:
The bolts that fasten on the from the cat to the exhaust are 14mm, the bolts to connect the cat to the header side are 12mm, and you'll need a cresent or monkey wrench to get the o2 sensor off.
From there its fairly simple, however a pair of box wrenches for the bolts on both sides will really make it easier. I used a pair of 12mm and 14mm box wrenches and it makes it easier when loosening and tightening the nut and bolt on the exhaust side . . . and on the header side with those spring bolts its almost required (unless you can get an awesome grip on a lift or something) to get them loose.
The o2 sensor will come right out with a cresent or monkey wrench, just turn it and be careful not to tangle the wires up to bad and hopefully untwist them during the re-install of whatever pipe you put in its place (or the cat again).
Hope it helps someone, I could not find a thread anywhere that had the bolt sizes . . . . 12mm, 14mm, and a cresent or monkey wrench.
