Default Differences between Honda OEM Wheel Locks

I'm confused as to which OEM wheel lock part number is intended for various years of the S2000.

When I bought my S2000, the dealer had already installed wheel locks. They left the package in the trunk with p/n 08181-SF0A2AH.

I happened to be looking around www.collegehillshonda.com and found these two part numbers for OEM wheel locks for the S2000 by year:
04-06 Part# 08W42-SCV-100
00-03 Part# 08181-SF1A2AH (I think they meant 08181-SF0A2AH, as the other part number doesn't seem to exist)

However, when I look at some other Honda accessory online retailers, several list the part number 08181-SF0A2AH for steel wheels only, which had me concerned enough to search S2ki and eventually post these questions:

What are the main differences between these part numbers (other than length)?
Part# 08W42-SCV-100
Part# 08181-SF0A2AH

Why would Part# 08181-SF0A2AH be listed for steel wheels only?

I understand that AP1 owners have used Part# 08181-SF0A2AH since the S2000 came out, but they should be just fine on an AP2, right?

Thanks!

Only a guess- Steel lugs to alum. whs. may have a less than secure seat, and of course alum. lugs to steel wheels may have the same problem. If you should have to use one with the other, check for tightness several times the first couple of weeks just to be sure the lugs aren't backing out.

Those were my thoughts, except the blurp for each part number mentions the same material - triple nickel chrome plated finish (including the contact area of the lug nut).

Interesting though, one website distinguishes between the two part numbers...
Part# 08W42-SCV-100 - For alloy wheels.
Part# 08181-SF1A2AH - For steel wheels only.

While another website lists both for any wheels.

In the end, the only real difference I see (as I think they are all manufactured by McGard), is the size of the actual locking lug nuts. Part# 08W42-SCV-100, is shorter, so they don't stick out as far, and they are closer to the weight of the stock lug nuts.

I got wheel locks with my car, they stick out a bit more than the lugs, but they get the job done.....I guess..

They won't stop your wheels from getting stollen. If the lock nut sticks out, you can get a large vice grip on it and remove it with no problem.

Do you have a picture of the locks? If so, check out the seating area, I don't know if steel wheels have the same ball/acorn seat that the alloy wheels do. Other than that...

Thanks for reminding me that I need to bump my OEM wheel lock FS thread though .
