Default Difference between '01 Stock Rims and '02 Stock Rims?

Why is there a color difference between '01 Stock Rims and '02 Stock Rims? The older ones seem more silver and the new ones seem to have a brassy glaze. Can anyone shed some light on this?

The '02 and '03 rims are reportedly less prone to pitting due to changes in the Mylar coating. Note: All alloy wheels have some sort of coating, whether it is paint or mylar. Aluminum has very poor corrosion resistance in this type of environment.

I've never read anything that suggests the color change had anything to do with the improvement in pitting resistance, It is possible that since Honda was making a change, they chose to also make a visual change to differentiate the two.

my '03 rims have very very slight pitting, maybe like 1-2 dots on each wheel. is this normal? damn rocks.

I may be wrong, but I think they were referring to the pitting to the rim inside the web (like where the wheel weights are installed, which sees significantly more flying debris and is washed far less often. I have a set of '00 rims with snow tires on them, and they have quite a few pits in this area.

my 01 rims have just been covered by Amercan Honda under "goodwill" because they were pitted/ stained so badly (outside where the valve stem is) after just one New England winter.. the rims are to be sent out, stripped and re-coated. again Honda stated they were doing this as a goodwill gesture and if it happens again they will not refinish them

I've read where the England group's entire 01 rims were recalled..

not too sure what the diffence is between the 01 and the 02s except the >02 seem to have a bronze tint
