definately do not use the honda differential fluid, the vtm-4(PILOT) and dual pump fluid(CRV) are not suitable for our differentials. go to advance auto parts and pick up a bottle of mobil 1 75w90 gear oil for like 8 bucks(silver bottle with skinny squeeze tip). its one of the best you can get, and is readily available.

yes, do a search, as it's a highly discussed topic. But I too concur with the Mobil 1.

How difficult is it to change the Diff fluid yourself? Is there a drain plug and fill plug on our Diff.'s? Also, what is the fluid capacity?

All this info and more is readily available in the library.

There is a DIY for fluid changes that is VERY complete, with fluid choices, quantities and tools required.

Enjoy!

StknCaS2k,

Changing the Diff Fluid is not a big deal. I bought a pump especially for this prupose - You will need on unless you can put your S up on a lift. I forget what I piad for the pump, but it was pretty cheap. Look or ask for on at a reputable Auto parts shop.

Yes, there is a drain plug and fill plug. They are different sizes, so you will need two different size wrenches. Again, I forget what sizes they are (heven't done mine in a while), but searching this site will turn up great information for you (that's where I got all of mine).

Total process takes about 30 minutes or so. Not a real big deal. Just make sure you put int he right fluid, recommended by Honda or you "might" have problems with your warranty later on. I have found that Honda is very sticky when you use after market parts instead of Honda parts for your car. Good Luck.
