let me put it this way for you. If I do not get my way and enough people who have had their differentials blown and rejected come together. I will push to see if I can get one to start.

The color isn't necessarily a give away. Redline has a GL-5 gear oil that is bright red.
The curious thing about the LE 607 fluid is that it was never stated as having the GL-5 designation, yet all sorts of people jumped on the bandwagon and went with it. I just hope that time won't show that we have a repeat case as we did with the "Lemmings".
Lubrication Engineers spec sheet on LE 607, dated January 3, 2004, states that the product "Exceeds API-GL5 Spec". Why would it void any warranty?

the magnusson moss warranty act explicitly states it ONLY covers FACTORY warranties, and it explicitly EXCLUDES extended warranty and service contracts.

the certified honda used vehicle is an extension of the factory warranty, and is thereby covered by the magnusson moss act. however, this kinda of warranty does NOT require a rep to come out and approve the warranty repairs.
So in otherwords, is the honda certified used car warranty better then the
extended? I just bought an '05 ap2 that was honda certified and came with an extended warranty up to 100K

because it is NOT actually a CERTIFIED GL-5 spec gear oil.

in other words, they never paid to have their gear oil certified as a GL-5 spec oil. while their own tests may show it exceeds that spec, that means jack squat to anyone else if they want that 3rd party API certification.

It showed this in their own test and in RoadRage's test also. But I understand what you are saying; kind of like the many mechanics out there better than the ASE Certified mechanics at Honda, but they aren't "certified."

exactly.

kinda like how a sound system can exceed the sound quality of a THX certified system, but unless they pay the $$$ to get the "official" certification, they can't use "THX certified" on their equipment.

And so it says this on the "spec sheet", but does it have it stamped on the bottle? Spec sheets don't accompany any bottles sold.

As for why it would void any warranty, you must have me mistaken for someone else. Never did I state that it would void the warranty so not sure why you would throw that in my face. However, if it's not stamped on the bottle and something goes wrong with the diff, even though it may have nothing to do with the fluid inside it, do you want to stand in the dealer warranty guy's office with a bottle of LE607 and argue your point?
