Does using the LE differential fluid count as a "mod" that could void the contract?
yes. particularly because LE is not an actual GL-5 certified gear oil, which the manual specifically states you must use.

well, they won't necessarily know that's what is in your diff unless you tell them.

the magnusson moss warranty act explicitly states it ONLY covers FACTORY warranties, and it explicitly EXCLUDES extended warranty and service contracts.

however, here is what is now confusing.

do you have a HONDA CERTIFIED USED WARRANTY or an EXTENDED HONDACARE WARRANTY???

In other words, when you bought the car, did you get a little card that says "Honda Certified Warranty" with info about how long things such as drivetrain were covered?

Or did you pay extra money for an extended warranty?

did you sign a service contract?

the certified honda used vehicle is an extension of the factory warranty, and is thereby covered by the magnusson moss act. however, this kinda of warranty does NOT require a rep to come out and approve the warranty repairs.
I have a honda certified warranty. I guess a inspectors does not even have to come look at it. I will call the dealership asap.

Good point. I remembered LE being a reddish color, can't they compare this to the OEM one and know that it isn't Honda fluid?

after speaking with the dealership they claim that the honda certified warranty is the safe as a Honda Care warranty except one is purchased by the dealer prior to me purchasing the car and one by the person who purchases the "extended warranty" on a non-certified car.

they're full of shit. they are NOT the same thing. the certified warranty is an extension of the factory warranty. it is NOT a SERVICE CONTRACT like the hondacare "warranty".

the honda certified warranty does not require anyone to come out and look at the car for repairs. i have had items replaced/repaired on my S2000 under the honda certified warranty, and my car has some pretty decent mods on it.

did you ever sign a service contract or did you pay anything for your extended warranty? do you have a "honda certified pre-owned vehicle" warranty card?
