Did You Know That Honda Oil Is Made By MOBIL?
The other day I went into Honda for an oil change and saw different weights of oil being sold in quarts on a parts department rack. The containers said Honda Oil made by Mobil.

Yes. I found out not too long ago. Bieg pointed it out when I asked why was he using Mobil-1 and not Honda oil. He said Honda oil is made by Mobil and that Mobil-1 is even better according to Honda techs as long as you use it after the break in period.
The honda-oil-made-by-mobil was confirmed when I had my oil change. But when I asked the manager if I can bring Mobil-1 in the future he said yes but Honda-mobil oil is specifically made for the honda engines and it is more then sufficient for our car.
But what does he know?

It isn't synthetic - and I don't think it is a very good choice in mineral oils, either. Mobil sells at a discount price in stores, and its formulation appears to be only average - I believe that the Vavoline All-Climate and Pennzoil Multi-Vis are better choices. Honda gets a better deal on its Mobil purchases, and re-labels it and upcharges for it. Not for me.

Got a couple of quarts when I bought the car. It says on the front. Manufactured to Honda specifications by ExxonMobil.
On the back it says:
Meets Honda and Acura quality standards.
A unique all-season motor oil blended specifically for all Honda and Acura vehicles.
Tested and approved by Honda R&D.
Contains special additives to exceed API SL/SJ performance and ILSAC GF-3.
Helps to reduce wear for longer engine life.
Outstanding high temperature engine protection.
It's 10W-30, not synthetic of course.
At 3000 miles I've used a total of about 3/4 of a quart for topping off along the way.
edit: I'm going to the dealer around 3750 for my first oil change, then I'm switching to Valvoline all-climate after that per RoadRage's recommendation.
