dlq04 - That's an interesting story, obviously very different from mine. Mine is from a semi-official source so it's not too surprising to think it may be sugar-coated. What is the source of your info?

Sorry Barry I didn't intend to sound condescending if that's how I came across.

What I meant AusS2000 was exactly what I wrote, that maybe the concept of the S2000 was an inspiration for the NSX, but the NSX clearly came before the S2000.

As far as the "Acura vs. Honda" naming convention goes, I agree the whole "Acura" badge was a silly idea, I would much prefer my Integra to be badged as a Honda, as it is in the rest of the world, but Honda took a gamble in creating the Acura division, hoping that the image-oriented North American car buyer would perceive Acura as an upscale make and not just another Honda. The gamble paid off. And Honda's experiment in creating Acura then resulted in Nissan's Infiniti and Toyota's Lexus.

It was 1985, Honda was making fine, automobiles in America.
It's flagship, the Accord, was like the most dependable, value car on the market.
Every American knows that Honda's car are very inexpensive.

When 1986 came, Honda had a more stylish car than the Accord, a more powerful car than
the Accord, a more luxury car than the Accord, with more bells and whistle over the Accord,
Just as reliable and dependable. But Honda cant tag it as a Honda, because people are
so used to the price of the Honda

So, they decided to put it under a different name.
Born, the Acura Legend, redefining luxury.

Interestingly, Toyota is about to start establishing the Lexus brand name in Japan. It is already being used in Europe.

Very interesting. While Mr Honda was in the hills staying away from supporting the Japanese war machine, Porsche, Volkswagen, Mercedes, and most of the other German manufacturers were extremely busy assisting Adolph Hitler, at least indirectly abetting the Holocaust, and aiding the rise of Nazi terror and oppression.

Three cheers for Mr Honda!
