My paint sucks, too... 6/7 mos. and I have dozens of chips.

Don't drive behind trucks and SUV's, that's all you really can do.

And, slightly off the subject, but...Who would like to see all trucks and SUV's have a maximum exposure set on the rear tires? I hate getting behind the ones with 80% of the tire showing. There should be a mudflap or extension of the rear 1/4 panel and/or rear fascia down to somewhere close to the axle line. My hood and windsheild would be in much better shape, but the roads would also be safer in general.

I usually dug behind another car when driving behind SUV or big rig, it's still not helping much. I guess staying out of the freeway would be a better choice.

PS. I'm a guilty SUV owner

The S paint is more delicate than the 5th Gen Prelude's. I drove my Prelude over 3 winters and only one chip, and that was on the OEM lip. My S has about 3 little ones and it hasn't been through winter yet so I just put the 3M film, hopefully that keeps the chips off.

On my past honda's it's been typical for early oxidation of the paint compared to other cars.

My car is being repaired at a cost of $4,100.00 due to asphalt damage caused by the trained professionals repaving I-90 in my area; new paint on the front, hood, etc., new headlamps, new windshield. A small paint warranty problem on the RR bumper (small peeling where the bumper meets the steel body) has been approved by Honda of Bellevue and this will be addressed at the same time to assure color match with the rest of the cosmetics.

I will drive the S home, park it for 30 days to allow the paint to cure and drive to Stongard for a complete application. I have visited their shop, seen S's with Stongard and look forward to preventing future paint damage.

If interesed, do a search for Stongard on this site.

I have a black S2000 and have gave up on the paint chip issue. I will be getting my bumper taken off and repainted in about two years.

on my black s, looking closely at the bumper, there are several little dots which look like as if somebody took a small pin and poked the entire front.

Also, I've just recently discovered two door dings after having the car for over 1 1/2 years. Doh!
