Default Decisions....

So funny thing.... Before I bought my S I made my girlfriend take a pregnancy test before I bought the car, it came up negative. So I bought the car and two weeks later.... Pregnant! Lol now she is 5 months and the time is growing closer. So today, my mother drives an 08 scion xb with everyday TRD option they offer and wants to trade me straight across for my S. It seems like the sensible thing to do but I think I might actually cry if I see my S drive off. The girlfriends car can haul a baby so either I sacrifice and make our life's easier by having 2 vehicles that can haul a baby or I just designate her car as the baby hauler. Lol I do not know what to do....

Keep your car, she has hers. Go to a shop, or do it yourself, but put in a switch that will disable the passenger airbag. Get a car seat that won't obliterate your factory seats, or buy a cheap aftermarket one to destroy.

But isn't it illegal to put a car seat in a two seater?

My wife and I have a five month old, my car = S2000, her car = baby carrier. As a bonus for me keeping the S, I let her take it when she runs errands. I've even taught her how to heal/toe and rev-match haha.

but yeah, I say keep the car

My wife and I talk about this a lot, and while her car will be the primary baby carrier, it doesn't make sense not to have another if you can afford two cars. You will need something for when her car is in the shop or, God forbid, shes in an accident. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but keeping the S as a primary vehicle with a baby doesn't make sense.

or, you could always rent a car when those circumstances come up (car in shop for maintenance/accident).

Figure $30/day average and max 1 week for maintenance. so an extra $210 for rental vs. a $200 - $600 monthly payment for 5 years on another daily plus insurance on it.

For the case of an accident, you should have rental coverage for up to 30 days anyway, not that much extra to add to a policy. mine was like an extra $26 for the 6 month period.
