Default Dealer Cost of '03 S2000 = $29,785 USD

For whatever is worth, Just to clarify some issues as to what would constitute a reasonable price to pay for a NEW S2000.

Not to flame anyone, but I seriously doubt you can buy this car for anything less than this figure. (At least down here in Texas).

This is the second post I've seen with these prices. If I can get one of these new for 30....maybe used isn't the way to go.

You guys are reading the original intent wrong. dangarza was trying to state that it is impossible to find cars for lower then dealer invoice. So $30k is above invoice. What he failed to realize is that cars do have "Hold Backs" and Manufacturer supplied rebates which is why dealers can dump them sometimes for less then invoice.

Agree entirely with you, Mr. Turbo_pwr.
My point is just that, no way you are going to buy a new S2000 for less than factory invoice, (which is what I quoted on top)
UNLESS of course, -as Turbo_pwr states- there are rebates. AND DAMN, I HAD NOT SEEN THAT $978.00 HOLDBACK GUYS, good pickup! How long has it been on???

It has been there ever since they started selling the S2000. Honda holdback is 3% of base MSRP on all of their cars. I got mine for $4 over invoice plus tax (6%) , title ($18), and Georgia warranty rights fee ($3). So they made $982 off of me. That's pretty good for a car that was only on their lot for one day.

Forget about rebates on the s2000 to make it under invoice and dealers almost never even consider holdback as profit when determining price. Hold back is there because consumers don't allow a dealer to make a fair profit anymore and the manufacturer has to ensure the dealer makes some money, $4 doesn't pay diddly sh%t.

The most inportant thing I like to have is a good trade in. When I got my S my trade in was valued at 23k so I only got taxed on about 7k instead of 30k that was a $1300 additional savings.
