Damn. Grace is trapped!
OK, the garage door has been sounding a little rough lately when I open or close it, but I figure I'll look at it next weekend when I have some time... So tonight, I bundle up, drop the top and take a drive to the store. I get back, open the garage door, back in and hit the button to close the garage door... crunch!
One of the wires from the garage door either snapped or just broke loose; I didn't notice t at first, it just looked a little crooked and one of the wheels was off the track. So, I'm standing there with the garage full of tools, cars (S2000 & 67 bug) thinking, "now what?" So I start to pull the garage door manually (luckily it's aluminum). About half way down it gets stuck again!
I finally realized what was wrong, but it was about 10pm and I didn't have the energy to deal with it. So, I had to remove one of the hinges and wheels, finally got the door all the way closed and had to jam a piece of wood at the top of the door to keep it closed.
Well, my S2000 is nice and safe in the garage, where she's going to have to rest for a while... she was in the shop for a whole week getting the transmission rebuilt, I got her back last week, now this. Is someone trying to tell me something??
sorry, had to rant. looks like I'll be driving the truck for the next few days...

Maybe it's time to get a different kind of garage door. I lost power last week, but was able to easily open the garage door manually. I have the one piece garage door with springs instead of the roll-up kind that you have.

My springs actually have a piece of metal inside of them, to keep the spring pieces together if they break. I'm sure all of the springs have this safety feature.

The spring doors are great until the spring(s) wear out to the point of breaking.

Damn, sounds like a real pain. Had my door opener break on me and the rail the dog and armature ran on came swinging down like a hammer and put a nice crease in the roof of my RX7. It may not feel like it but you were lucky. I'm sorry I missed you at the meet last week, pet the new pup for me.
