Daily Drivers: Are you master of your domain?
#13
I just mastered my domain last night!
Oh.............um..............wrong domain.
I also hit VTEC!
No self-respecting S2K owner can lay-off vtec for very long.
After our last Tech-day, we took a car out for a test drive to shake out any bugs. This car had very worn tires and we BOTH agreed to take it easy and not hit VTEC. That lasted all of 1 1/2 blocks, as he opened it up and smiled at me. Some people have no will power!
You should start a sign-up list for volunteers, then edit it with how long they made it until "mastering their domain" of vtec.
I'll even give it a try (and plan to fail).

DAY 1. Well, I set out on a mission today. I was feeling an inner peace, knowing I would keep the revs low. See, I usually hit VTEC ~10 times a day, with ~5 redlines . But ya know, today just felt different.
So I was just cruising along, listening to some Jollie Holland to keep me tame . I was lightly passing individuals, sure not to downshift as that ran the risk of hitting the 5-6k range. Then I notice this Saab 9000 Turbo pull up next to me at a light. This was a guy I passed a minute or two ago cause he was just sitting in the left lane on the highway, forcing the rest of us to pass on the right . Anyhow, I took a deep breath, thought about my new found exercise in restraint and just let him go. And BOY, did he go! He seriously hit the throttle and owned me. Wait, he didn't own me . I didnt even hit 4k.
Well, no big deal, right? That's what this is all about. A new view on things.
So I cruise along, behind a TON of traffic. There were semi's hauling huge trees, carrying double-wides, you name it. All of a thought pops into my head :webmaeckerscratchesitchyhead: . I thought, "Self, could you imagine if all this traffic just moved out of your way, leaving you and that Saab to battle at the upcoming light?". The light ahead had a merge about 40 yards after; a classic scenario for head-to-head battle. "Naah, I thought. Couldnt happen. There are just too many cars".
Well, as if from biblical times, the traffic parted in a way that could happen to spite me. There is NO WAY this would happen upon my request.
So there we were. The Saab and the S :heartbeat: . I start out thinking, , , . Then all of a sudden , , and :burnrbr: .
I think I need a smoke .

I don't get it.
It is not a daily driver for me, but I VTEC every single time I drive the car. Preforably under bridges and overpasses.
Not VTECing every day, is like not "Mastering your domain" every day. (or so I've heard. )

yeah, but think about it. the longer you WAIT... the better it, uh, feels
i was really good the rest of the way, so I wanna try this again. i figure i have 40 or so miles since my last pull, so i will see how much farther i can go.
oh no, i just realized i am 63 miles from home
