DLQ...no problem Dave....hows the clutch doin after our dyno day in michigan? Still holdin up I hope!

Silver Knight...

Its the mini muffler between the cat and the "Y" bend to the mufflers. It literally looks like a mini muffler. The piping is 2 or 2.25 inches I THINK??

My local muffler shop did it for $35.

Here is what it looks like after its done.....

From the rear...the black beam is the rear subframe

Close Up.....

From the drivers side....

I'll do it but you get onthe dyno first and make sure there are no HP loses Glad it worked out good for you though!
Sorry....just read this now...

At the Fresh Water Tour I dynoed higher with just my PRM than Urmil (Luder 94) with mugen intake, header and exhaust + a few extras......

I do have a factory freak according to some people though, so that may be part of the problem. The highest dyno was HHammerly (designer of the Hammerly Hitch for our car) with just an intake on that day. I was second behind him.....

basically though the muffler shop experts should have know problem right? They all know what a resonator is most likely. I don't need to show them pictures? Yeh pics are down.

also forgot to add, was it pretty easy for the shop to find a pipe the same size to weld in?

yeah...that was a piece of cake for them.....like I said though, make sure they weld it in well....for mine, he had to unbolt it from the cat and angle it down to weld around the top part of the piping.

Another good thing about it, you are losing 10 lbs (or so) of dead weight! YAY!!! LOL......

A couple things here. First of all, although it's nice to have a sound clip posted for people to listen to, it really isn't representative of what it actually sounds like in person. I video taped my S before and after removal of the resonator (both stationary from behind, and drive-by's while shifting) and none of them really give a good idea of what it sounds like live while driving. The little microphones in the video cameras just do not pick up the full range of sound and come out sounding much more thin and hard edged than how it really sounds. Take my word for it, it sounds much better than the sound clip indicates. Second, most shops should know exactly what you are talking about and generally have done many of them. If they don't, go somewhere else. Johnny--2K, no offense but that's some kinda cobby looking welding they did on yours there. A skilled welder should not need to drop down the exhaust at all to get to the top of the pipe. I had mine done twice (two days after I had it done the first time I got rear ended and the insurance company replaced the whole exhaust, so I took it right back in and had it done again the day after I got the car back ), and neither time did they have to unbolt anything. Of course I had to pay all of $40 a pop for mine . Last, I've said this in a number of threads already but I'll say it again, I really don't know why Honda puts the resonator in at all. Along with the already large dual main canisters it basically cuts off the exhaust sound to the point that you can't hear it at all over the motor. With the resonator removed it simply opens it up just enough so that you can actually hear the exhaust a bit and it blends with the sound of the motor to make a nicely refined combination. Not overly aggressive or raw in any way. BTW, I weighed the resonator and it's approx 7 lbs so with the short piece of replacement pipe it's probably a net loss of about 5 lbs.

the reason for the crap welds is because the first time, he didnt get all the way around the top, so he had to do it again, not to mention he was having trouble with the machine. The wire got cut inside the machine, and was wadding up at the tip.....as far as how it looks, I really dont care as long as it holds up. No one really looks at the bottom of my car anyways. Also, this is just temporary until I do get a new exhaust.....keep in mind I am a broke college student!
