I alos use my cup holder to store my garage door opener. I used it to hold a drink once, and it made it hard to shift and warmed up the drink a lot. Just too much heat coming into that little compartment.

My Nokia 8290 Cellphone fits in there perfectly. Since I cant hear or feel the phone ringing/vibrating while driving the car, its a perfect place for the phone to stay.

I DONT drink and drive at the same time. Cupholder is quite useless for this anyway.

I just got my 06 S2k. The grandma that owned it spilled a chocolate shake into the cup holder. Car smells like syrup. The button that holds the door closed sticks like cement til it heats up. Also the cup holder door is gummed up too.

Any Ideas? The leather arm rest is also torn at the edge. I was just going to buy a replacement on Ebay for 300 but I was thinking today why don't I pull the console and have it recovered and then clean out the shake. I just am so afraid of removing those stubborn clips.

Any Advice or ideas.

Just clean it up. It will pop out very easily, just start at the back of the armrest and work your way up and it will all pop off. then take it out and clean the hell out of it, that should do the trick.

This car was designed to be driven so hard that you shouldn't have time to reach for anything but that shifter!! That is why the radio controls are next to the steering wheel!
So you're driving the car hard but have time to play with the radio?

OK, I know what you mean, but that reads strange.

I use the AP2 cupholder for my iPhone cradle/charger/transmitter thingie. It's working out pretty well in the mean time until I upgrade stereos.

I thought about adding this cupholder using this DIY:

But I don't want to encourage the transportation of beverages in my car. LOL.
