Default Crushed seat bolster...warranty item?

My car is an 05 with 22,000 miles on it...still under warranty for another year. The drivers side seat bolster is crushed to the point where sitting normally I can feel the metal support digging into my left leg.

Has anyone been successful in getting this fixed under warranty or will they try and claim this is normal wear and tear for an $4,000 seat?

I just traded in my car, but the thigh bolster on the door side of the driver's seat was crushed. Actually, feeling the seat it felt like the metal support had actually cut through the foam. So, it was not really crushed at all, but rather the foam had been cut by the metal support.

There was a thread in the wash & wax forum where an owner had the same issue and he had it replaced under warranty. Try searching that forum.

I had the same issue with my 2000. I was out of warranty so I just purchased a new seat cushion and replaced it myself. It was really easy to do and I think the cusion was like 200 or something. Not cheap but worth it IMO. It's been great for the last 40k miles and mine was smashed when I bought the car at 15k miles! Must have been a big dude who owned it before me. Shoot, I'm 190 lbs. ????

Yes, mine was actually crushed when I got it at 11,000 miles...but unfortunately I didn't know this was something to look for. It took me a couple days to get over the WOW factor of owning the car before I realized there might be something wrong with the seat...

You all need to find a better way to get in and out of the car.

My 6+ year old seat side bolsters still look brand new with the exception of the cracks on the leather.

Next time you go in and out of the car try this.

When ever you get out of the car, push the seat all the way to the back.
Open the door, put your left hand on the door sill, right hand on the center console and push your self out of the seat as if you were doing a dip.

Do the reverse dip when you are getting in and drop yourself onto the seat.

seat bolster is a fancy name for the cushion?

It's not fancy. It's more accurate. It describes the portion of the seat that bolsters or supports the side of your body under lateral load, ie, turning.

they can not void your warranty unless the modification can be linked to the part that is defective. ur intake did not make your seat break. take it to honda and have them warranty the part. the seat comes in pieces, so it should not be too expensive for them to replace.

Would an auto upolstery shop be able to handle it on a car out of warranty? I have the same problem.
