Default cruising rpms, ap1 vs ap2

I started googled this question for the past two days and from the numbers I am getting, 4100 rpms is typical for a cruising speed of about 75 mph. However, in the post I have a hard time distinguishing if the person stating their cruising speed is 4100 rpms, if they are in a ap1 or ap2, and if there is a difference in the model years cruising speed. Can people help me try to get a sense of the cruising rpms of an s2000, ap1 and ap2 (if there are any differences).

like what is the rpm of an stock ap1 or ap2 in their respective speed (65mph to 80mph).
ap1
miles
65-(rpms)
70-
75-
80-

ap2
miles
65- (rpms)
70-
75-
80-

I am asking this since I am a prospective buyer and would like to compare them to my z's rpm.

Also from personal opinion, it seems as though the highway rpms of an S2000 is pretty high, and from what I've read, people have swap gears form ap2 to ap1 with different final drive gears. Lets, say I buy a ap2, is there a way to swap to a higher gear to lower the cruising rpm on the highway/freeway?

My personal uses for the s2000 is similar to the 350z current use, which is my daily driver. I may try to track the S here and there, but I've owned the Z but never have done that due to school/lacking funds to do so (now done of course).

Ap2

65 mph = 3500
70 mph = 3700
80 mph = 4200

AP2 6th gear is 2% taller than AP1, so rpm at any speed should be correspondingly lower.

AP1 is at 4000rpm at indicated 75mph. AP2 would be at ~3920rpm at the same speed.

The close-ratio gearbox is IMO one of the great things about the S2000. Great for the track (though I admit I've never been to a track where 6th gear was required!). But the drawbacks are a tall first gear, hindering launching from a dead stop or low-speed roll, and a short top gear giving high cruise rpm.

It is doubtful that the time/cost/hassle of doing a transmission or diff swap is a good idea for *most* people. Taller gearing hurts take-off even more, and shorter gearing further increases cruise rpm.

IMO, stock setup is a pretty good compromise.

So would an ap2 be a better compromise for daily highway driving then the ap1 due to lower rpm cruise?

I dont really think it would matter based solely on the rpms. Theres not that much of a difference. Once you take interior quality, features, and stereo into effect then the ap2 starts to stand out as a better dd.

Where does your Z redline?

The first thing people think is that the S2000's cruising rpms are so high compared to other cars. The s2000 has a higher redline than other cars. Most cars redline around 6-7k, so they're cruising is around 2800-3500rpm(highway speeds) while the S redlines at 8-9k. So the higher cruising rpms are normal.

The z redlines at 6700, at least the 04 does. And cruises somewhere in the vicinity of 2500-3k on the highway. But Rubn1 out is right. Since the s has a much smaller engine and much higher redline it will cruise at higher rpms no problem.

The link has exact gearing of both AP1 and AP2. You can get/extrapolate whatever speed and RPM combinations you're interested in.

I was on the freeway doing 75-76mph on 4000rpm if Im not mistaken. Either I'm 100% correct with the rpm or WAAAAAAAAAAY off...
I tried this, but I just dont 100% REMEMBER what rpm i was in... >.<

@ the people who are comparing the RPM speed of an s2k and Z: S2k is known to have a fast engine speed(rpm) compared to most cars such as the Z. I can't tell you if thats a PLUS or MINUS, but heres a quick quote from Tsuchyia-san If i remember correctly...
"Boy I really wish the RPM could climb a little faster" -while riding on the Z
I know this doesn't mean much people, but im just sayin... ahahahaha

By the way... If you dont know who im referring to, I mean the drift king Tsuchiya Keniichi. If you have no clue in what im talking about... just go kill yourself.
