This may be obvious to some, but I guess I'd never thought about it before.

I was driving on the freeway, in the rain, with cruise set at about 60mph. I'm sure everyone's aware that with cruise set, and the vehicle starts to slow down quickly, cruise control "punches" the throttle to speed up. I drove through an area in which I started to hydroplane. This caused the back end to become VERY LOOSE! Scared the shit out of me! Luckily, I was fast enough to tap the brake pedal and prevent losing control.

Anyway, this is something I wouldn't have thought about until it actually happened to me.

Hopefully this will prevent someone else from having an accident!

Yeah I get kind of scared using the cruise control to the point ive stopped using it. I just dont like the feeling of not having complete control of the car.

ok, learn how to use your car feature correctly. Don't let go of the gas peddle immediately after setting the cruise control, allow about 2 seconds after setting and you won't ever have to worry about this "punches". A gun can save and kill you, hopefully you are not pointing it at yourself.

Thats not what he was talking about. After the cruise controll is set, the car will slow a little and the ecu will add more throttle to get the car back up to speed. The ecu isnt so smooth about doing it.

Yep, should not use cruise control in the r---!! Glad nothing worse happened.

ohh, I never had that problem as long as I allowed time for the Cruise to set itself. Usually took about 2 sec for me, but it could get ugly if u just let the pedal go as soon as u press set.

I think I've used the cruise control once.
And that was cuz i was leading a caravan and i wanted to make sure I wouldnt speed

Cruise control is stupid about hydroplaning. It just keeps the wheels spining at the same speed, whether they're touching the road or not. This can be very dangerous, especially with the diff, since it will allow the wheels to spin at different speeds, and still appear to be 60mph to the cruise control.

It's dangerous enough on wet roads, but should never be used if water is standing on the road, like in heavy rain.
