It was actually quite useful at the track. Didnt have to pay attention to my dash at all. See a little green flash out of the corner of my eye and shift.

As far as daily driving, um... I like to save gas. Its not cheap here in southern california

I know what you mean about the gas prices here in SoCal

I haven't had my CR on the track yet......once I'm there, I'm sure the indicator may come in handy like you said

i want a flashing green light to distract me when I'm at my "peak whp".

I want neon underglow to start flashing in my face when I hit vtec. I want strobes to go off with horns when I'm at 9000rpm.

Aside from the beeper you can get the Modifry Shift Beeper to light a light in addition to the beep. Some have even used the interior light as a shift indicator.

my 06 has the redline blink from 8000-8200RPM, right before i'd bang the limiter. is this when the PPI light comes on, or is it earlier?

and is the advantage that it's easier to see an/or use, or is it just a fun novelty feature?

The green light starts to flash rapidly earlier than that.....then at around 7800RPM it stays solid.

It's all three: easier to see, fun and a novelty feature....I like it
