I'd never consider a used s2k unless I personally knew the owner. Too many yahoos try to hop them up and generally abuse them for me to feel comfortable buying used. I looked at a CR yesterday at the local dealer while getting my oil changed. Nice looking car, but I probably wouldn't buy one. The spoiler is way overdone, and not having a cloth top to put up when the weather changes is a real world sales killer. As for the s2k styling getting old, I don't see it that way. The car actually looks fast, because Honda designed it aerodynamically to go fast (aka, it can actually stay nailed to the pavement at 150+). When I was shopping for my roadster, I looked at what was affordable and had the looks I wanted. I liked the new miata's look, but wanted a high performance engine. The 350z had a bigger engine, but it looks like a fat butter bean to me (too much like a chopped, chromed, and toasted VW bug). The BMW has the same look as ever (the grill looks like a little grey mustache, just like the driver usually has). Skipped the Detroit roadsters due to worries about relialibility and a little bit overdone styling. Even the Boxster doesn't look as fast as an s2k. At the sushi bar last night, young lady sitting next to me complemented me on the car's good looks and wanted to know who made it. She's ~24 and I'm 58, so don't be telling me that the styling is out dated!

No surprises. An S2000, with no softtop and no leather for significantly more money? ... .. I mean, duh?

At least she grew into a beatuiful young lady. The s2000 however...hasn't grown at all really.

i went to the sf and san jose car shows, the honda cars had a cr and a regular car at sf and the cr at san jose. not much interest. i expect honda is just getting rid of inventory at this point , the cr just proves my point.

now if they were to evolve the car then the sales would show that. giving up on a model brings apathy for all but the hard core.

The first two years I owned my '00, were in Southern California and there were still so few S2000's that it was down right exciting to see another one on the road. The last five years, I've lived in New England and S2000's on the road are still relatively rare. But what really surprises me is I've just returned from a two week vacation in So Cal and I think I can count on one hand how many S2000's I saw. Granted there was some rainy weather at times, but most of the two weeks were sunny. I probably saw as many Ferraris as S2000's.

I haven't checked the total number of S2000's built lately, but we still have a very exclusive car and is only becoming more exclusive with lower sales. On one hand, I'm disappointed that sales are low, but on the other, it only makes my car more desireable to me.
