CR model apparently not boosting S2000 sales
#51
I wasn't trying to specifically call anyone out. I used the "AP1-AP2" stuff as an example I see exploited alot. Theres certainly more inmaturity than just the AP1-AP2 stuff which Ive seen increase in my two years on the forums. I like to beleive senior members are not the ones truely fueling some of these comments.
ex.
But this Thread is about S2000 sales so ill quit ranting. Happy Holidays Everyone

I didn't bother to read past the first complaint cause three pages is a lot........
but I find it funny that you think in a declining market where people are also concerned about gas prices.......YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING WHY SALES ARE DOWN IN SUVS AND SPORTS CARS?.........but up in the 2 cheap 4cyl's that get like 35mpg?
I really doubt this has much relevance on the intro of the CR

They lost the convertible buyer with the hardtop CR.
They lost the good taste buyer with the ugly ass spoiler and tonneau cover.
They lost sales due to the weather.
They lost sales due to the lack of HP increases to compete with it's competition.
They lost sales due to other companies introducing their own convertibles. ie. Saturn, Pontiac....etc..
Not surprised with the figures.

I think sales wouldn't be that great for any convertible without a top.
What do CR people do if it starts to rain?
Maybe CR should have been fixed roof?

It should have been fixed roof.
And, for fixed roof there are much better choices.
We can no more understand things like Jeffery Dahmer.
There is no justification, just sleepless nights if you ponder it too long.

CR model apparently not boosting S2000 sales, November sales down 10.4%
The CR is to me a foolish idea as long as there is no folding top or a fixed one. Just stupid.

I bet 2008 sales drop to barely over 3,000. Almost 50/50 between the CR and the regular version. I bet it is likely we will see "new" 2008 CRs well into 2010 on the market. I think 1500 is just waaay too many. Immediately upon release they were heavily discounted on the bay.
I just don't understand why people buy brand new ones at 32K when you can buy a 5,000 mile 2005 for 23K. How insane is that? For the price of a Civic Si you can have a virtually new S?!
I also think 12K for high mileage examples is pretty much the floor for pricing, much like 28K is pretty much the floor for scary NSX's.

Not trying to dwell on the negative, but December 2007 was the worst S2000 sales month ever- 210 cars. This compares to 327 for December 2006. Incidently, the best December was in 2001 when sales were 633 units. Unfortunately, the car is getting old- there have now been 9 Decembers since its introduction.

all auto manufacturers sales are down.. some worse then others. Honda, Nissan & Toyoto are strong compared to Mazda, Ford, Chevy & the others....ive been in the auto industry for 7 years & its been on a steady decline for those 7 years.....our countys economy is going to shit
