Corvette or S2000

You guys are really something.
I can't believe I'm on a HONDA board. Most Honda owner I know would just start spitting out how efficient their engine is compared to GM's offering.
Anyway,
I'd choose the S2000.
It has a 9000 rpm redline...Talk about cheap F1 sensation.
It's really powerful enough for me.
It's small, nimble, and stylish. (unlike C5's J-lo rear end)
Its built quality is a lot better.
On the other hand,
C5's paint finish looks like a cavalier.
Its interior is uglier than my Golf. *shrug*
The interior plastic looks like it's made from recycled grocery bags or something.
I never like the sound of american V8s.
Although 385 hp (and the upcoming 405) is very impressive, most people can't control that much power and will only get in trouble.
Now if GM would put the LS-6 into something like the TVR Tuscan (Swordfish kicks ass!!! ).. Awesomeness.

This is not a good way to win friends and influence people - especially Vette owners.
I'm not taking sides here ( Remember, my car is an S2000), but my Vette had great paint, nice interior (I don't like leather, but that's beside the point), an exhaust system helps the sound (it did mine), and 400 horses tied to a throttle sure is a rush. I believe the VTEC is capable of getting me into all the trouble I could ever want!
Also, someone said something about the Vette being large. I remember looking at mine and thinking how "small" it was - low to the ground and seems short when viewed from the front. I don't know about the comparison in quality YET. My Vette was trouble free. So far, so is my S2000. From rumors, the differential in the Vette is a bit tougher.
I do like the idea of having a small engine/car that rides on rails and goes like a rocket. The rails part is fine as is and I'm awaiting the arrival of the after burner (Comptech SC).

Personally I think that if you're a big guy and a rough and tough type you're better off with a Corvette. If you're small or you're really not a big guy and don't appear as a rough and tough guy then you're better off with the S2K. No offense to those who are big but my sis saw a big guy driving an S2K the other day and she couldn't help but laugh. On the other hand if you see me in a Corvette you'll probably laugh.
First choose whether you prefer a convertible or not. Then choose the styling. Then sit in it and see which car feels most comfortable to you. Then drive it to see which one you prefer. Then compare the pricing. Then ask yourself which one.
Personally, even though the Z06 might waste the S2K on the track I don't think it "feels" like it can do well on corners. It's American car vs Jap. I'll take Jap anyday.

It's also very attractively priced (IMHO) at about $48K.
The reasons I hesitate to buy a Z06:
1. The "vette dude" reputation
2. No drop top
3. American car interior
4. Somewhat overdone exterior styling
Reasons I still think about it:
1. Torque and power
2. Torque and power
3. Torque and power
4. Great suspension & handling

The reasons I hesitated to buy an S2000
1. Bleached tip - visor wearing - honda driving reputation
2. lack of torque
3. Drop top
4. Somewhat over done styling (clear corners, big wheel wells, long front end, etc)
The reason I bought it:
1.Price
2. Somewhat overdone styling...she looks good!
3. Price/Performance is great
4. cost of ownership compared to Z06 (tires, brakes, maitenance..etc)
But, as you can see I got over my reservations...

Reasons I sold my s2k:
1. after 10+ years of hondas (accord, crx, integra gsr, ITR, s2k) I was tired of peaky engines
2. atypical honda quality with lots of odd noises
3. no power exiting turns unless under vtec
4. concern that in a rollover, helmet will impact first because of small rollhoops
Reasons I bought a z06 (borrowed from pfb):
1. torque and power
2. torque and power
3. torque and power
4. great suspension and handling
Sure the z06 will probably put a few carlengths on a s2k at a stoplight race. SO WHAT??? As long as both parties are smiling afterwards and can share a drink and a laugh, it's all good.
